Several months ago, Paul completed our new home in Broulee. And, we are absolutely delighted with the end-product. Building a double story, “one-off” design can be quite challenging as everything is unique to that building. During the initial phase, Paul came up with some excellent design ideas which has given our house a unique feel. No matter how careful the planning, during construction there are always going to be some changes and Paul accommodated these without any fuss or major cost. I was on-site during most of the build and I found Paul’s trades people to be first-class.
Building a house is a complex task, yet now that the task is complete and with the benefit of hindsight, I can honestly say that if I was to do it all again, I would use Paul and the Sealine Home’s team.

The main reason that the building process went so smoothly was Paul’s capacity to form and maintain a good relationship with me. There are several key areas of his personal qualities that I would like to mention. Paul has often demonstrated his integrity and flexibility with regard to the building process. He was very willing to share time with me to brainstorm ideas (at no additional cost) and he was also most generous and friendly when faced with any changes in design. On one occasion he built, knocked down andthen rebuilt part of bathroom wall without complaint.
Furthermore, Paul’s professionalism shows not only in his reliability and attention to detail but also in his timeliness. Throughout the process I was kept informed of any minor delays and Paul always returned my telephone calls promptly. I have also appreciated the enthusiasm for the project that we have shared. I have had many people tentatively ask me how I am coping with the building process, and it has always been a pleasure to highly recommend Paul his relational competence and building expertise.

Firstly living in Melbourne & having our home built in Tomakin NSW was a big ask. Thanks to Paul and his great tradesmen it was smooth sailing right through to the home completion.
Being in the trade myself in a Cabinet making business in Melbourne I know the pitfalls that can happen, thanks to Pauls frequent phone calls on the progress of our home together with the faith we had in his judgement and building ethic we had no issues. Jan & I would make the trip up to Tomakin as each stage was completed.

The excellence is captured to a large extent by the way Paul has interpreted the architectural design and the pleasure comes in the nature and professionalism with which both the architect and Paul deWinter dealt with us as owners given the difficult task we presented them with, we sought a truly artistic and beautifully constructed home to blend in with the environment of Mosquito Bay, Lilli Pilli. The architect set the building down to capture both the natural bush and waterfront location. The builder further enhanced this process by solid craftsmanship through out, attention to detail and his always receptive consultative manner. This was particularly important given that for most of the time we lived in Canberra and much of the decision making was by phone or email with intermittent site visits.
We are very happy with our new home!!
This initial meeting was the beginning of our building journey with Paul as he impressed us with his ability to listen to our plans and acknowledge our dream; his innovative ideas; and his ability to verbalise both a short term and long term plan in regard to our build. Paul acknowledged that this build would be “long distance” as we were building from afar to re-settle on the South Coast.
We also had 2 cats and a dog and were keen for our home to be their home too. Paul was not only amenable to cat and dog features but was also very practical with some of these outlandish requests.
The build commenced with the demolition of an existing cottage; negotiations with 3 neighbours and the Local Council. Paul managed all this and kept us up to date via email, text and phone calls.
Rain and more rain delayed the build and a phone call from Paul on New Years Day to share with us that the drainage in place was working as he had planned convinced us again that we had indeed chosen the right builder and we were again impressed with Paul’s professionalism, integrity and his willingness to build our ‘dream home’ to absolute perfection.
We are now settled in The Bay and marvel at our beautiful home each and every day.

The new home is more than a renovation: it is a leap in quality, allowing us to enjoy the coast landscape much more than before.The design regulations constrained us in some ways by requiring us to trade-up to a more fire-resistant exterior. Builders face many choices in finalising these tougher exteriors, and we think Paul got the project right with his choice of painting and finishes. We are delighted with the end result, and have developed a friendship with Paul, who comes as a welcome guest to help us enjoy his masterwork.

The other day Mary and I were reflecting back on when we first started to select a builder. We went to a number of different builders, two project builders and three custom builders. One of the project builders refused to give us any pricing once we advised them that we were getting competitive pricing, they wanted us to deal exclusively with their firm and not to talk to any other builders. The other project builder was more cooperative but as soon as we asked for changes from the standard head office design the cost skyrocketed and they would not make all the changes we wanted to the standard layout nor could we do any work or get access to the house until it was finished.
One of the custom builders advised us that he would like us to come back to him with the best pricing available and he would simply under cut the best price without looking at our requirements or drawings. We did not like his approach and quickly removed him from our list. We were then down to two custom builders you and one of your competitors. We again encountered difficulty in getting the one remaining competing builder to provide us with pricing that included all the features we wanted, we got a rough estimate and a request for a fee to provide comprehensive competing bid which we found to be unacceptable.
Paul, you were the only builder that accepted our detailed specifications for features and provided us with a firm price at the outset. We jointly spent a considerable amount of time discussing the details to insure complete understanding. In addition, there were a number of items that we wanted to do ourselves and you were very helpful in assisting us in analysing as to where savings could be achieved.
Once construction commenced you were very receptive to any changes we wanted and provided advice even on the items that we were doing ourselves. This was very much appreciated.
I should also mention that your bid price was the most competitive of all pricing that we received and we couldn’t be happier with the result. Both Mary and I would be more than happy to recommend you to any potential customers that you may have in the future.
When shopping around for a private builder we were pleasantly surprised to find that Sealine Homes was comparable to the other priavte builders that we had looked at.
From our first meeting with Paul deWinter we were made to feel comfortable and able to discuss our budget and options that would fit with what we had planned for our home.

Yet again, Paul delivered our dream home, in time for our wedding in September 2018. It was our very great privilege to thank him for our home at the wedding, and to acknowledge that building with Paul, dreams do come true. The Taj has been nearly a decade in the design and delivery, and Paul has been with us for the great majority of that time.

Paul at the very beginning showed his commitment to our project and showed us many examples enabling us to choose a solution best suited for our needs.
During the course of the project Paul advised us of new proven technologies that had become available providing greater efficiencies throughout a rural setting.
Energy efficiency was and is one of our primary concerns and by employing modern technologies we were able to achieve this along with water efficiencies. The aspect of the building and the design allowed us to take advantage of the environment to reduce our reliance for water and power.
Through the experience of Sealine Homes Paul was able to advise of structural materials that would enhance this. also Paul demonstrated his ability to adjust when problems with supply arose, we felt little in what could have been a major problem.
We now have a beautiful new home for two families with space between the two allowing for individual spaces.
The finishes on the house are second to none.
This is the second house that we have built with Sealine and demonstrates our confidence in the ability of Paul to provide a result fit for purpose and distinctive in appearance.
